Zumba Classes: Your First Lesson
Once you approach your first Zumba lesson you may be slightly daunted by the expectations that others have told you. Zumba is an energetic new way of mixing Latin dance rhythms and tunes with easy exercising moves, so you can have fun while you workout, rather than guilt rendered trips to your local gym every second month. The design of Zumba classes is that they are simple, addictive and highly energetic, so that you get the best possible workout.
The first lessons will concentrate on the more gradual moves to get you used to the rhythms and specific movements of Zumba fitness.
Zumba fitness regime focuses upon exercising your entire body and moving as many muscles as possible, through the rhythmic movements with the Latin music. The regime is energetic and almost intoxicating. I heard certain people even claim that they felt more like they were dancing on a night out rather than an exercise program. Certain drawbacks do include the high intensity of the classes. There is a great deal of energy required and after a day of work it’s difficult to commit to. I also found that there is quite an acute muscle pain the following day- fresh after exercising disused muscles. However this is true of many fitness regimes. Zumba Fitness classes are different because of the Latin Rhythms used within the classes to improve your fitness and get you dancing with real energy.
It is also well to remember that the endorphin and adrenaline boost that the intensity of a Zumba class brings is a natural high that gives you a fantastic lift. The exercise makes you feel better and fitter almost immediately. Zumba classes are full of people who are interested in both getting exercise but also in having a good time while doing so. The classes are not judgmental and do not really adhere to levels of proficiency. Everyone there is treated as equal. The class is danced in line formation, so you don’t really need to worry about attending by yourself, but if you are feeling a little self conscious you can bring a friend, as I did. She is still gratefully attending the classes! She is following in the bouncy footsteps of celebrities who have begun the world wide obsession with Zumba Fitness.

Fight Sports Clare, located on the Kildysart Rd, Clarecastle hold Zumba Classes every Wednesday at 7pm.
